This was a commission request to go along with the revolmini Deathstroke I made a while back. I love working with the revoltech figures, so I was more than happy to do this one. The client was super understanding and patient with me on this too, which is always great. I'd never made a Batman before, so I wanted to do a good job on this. My client sent a picture to go by of a white version batman, but allowed me some good room to play, and also go for some darker colors.
This was a combination of Cyborg Ninja, Solid Snake, and Kinnikuman Warsman. Cyborg Ninja gave up his torso, legs, and lower arms. Initially his upper arms too, but they didn't work out, so that's where Warsman came in. He also lent his shoulder pieces to the cause. As for Solid snake, he mostly gave up his boots and some of his joints, as they were closer to the color I needed, and helps avoid paint rub. Revoltech joints are great, but don't always hold paint too well.
I sculpted pretty much everywhere but the feet and shoulders pieces to get the look right. Also sculpted the cowl piece to attach the requested fabric cape to the shoulders. The masked head was an upper half of an old Batman figure from the less scale specific days, and lower half was some fodder head, I can't really recall. Put them together, cut down the upper half some and sculpted around the chin and sides to blend. Bruce head was from a marvel Punisher. The older one with the awful huge chin, which I had to trim down some, along with sculpting the hair.
Since Bats here was going to be going up against Slade Wilson in his near future, I wanted to give him some fitting accessories. I made 2 bat blade type weapons out of some metal, along with an array of batarangs, Aldo metal. Painted and sanded edges to make for a decent blade feel.
Having never made a Batman before, I was a little nervous going in. Such an iconic character should be met with a good deal of respect, and I really wanted to do him justice (league?)
The client seems quite happy with how it turned out, and that's all that matters to me in the end.
