I've always loved Melvin Potter, he's got a great design and he's probably my favourite DD rogue/ally. He was one of the first Marvel Legends customs I ever made, and was sorely in need of an update (although I do think he's toyetic enough to get an official release sooner or later). I'd actually been planning him for a while, and when I recently found myself with a ton of spare time I thought I'd better get cracking...

GrownNerd's custom from a few years back was a huge inspiration - he used a WWE figure, although I wanted a slightly thicker Melvin, similar to how Frank Miller drew him. He's built on an Elite Bruno Sammartino, with ML Sabertooth hands and lower legs. Sculpted the head, boot details and shoulder armour, and used styrene for the armbands, gauntlets, boot spikes and emblems (with some texture engraved in). The wrist blades are metal Dremel sawblades mounted on pegs so they can spin freely.

The scalemail trousers were a huge challenge - I didn't really fancy sculpting them, and eventually decided on using some tiny resin circles I got on Etsy (I think they're normally used in jewelery design). Spend the bulk of the time just sticking them on, one by one, which damn near drove me insane - I think they were well worth the effort, though, and it's a technique I'll be using in the future, albeit sparingly...

Wow. Just perfect. What are these resin circles you speak of. Might be time to quit waiting for a real Namor and surely just the trunks won't be as maddening as the whole lower torso.

R U FREAKIN' KIDDING ME ?!!? This is totally kick-a$$ !!! The attention to detail you focused on the pants is insane, and the saw blades add a real nice touch of realism !!! No kiddies will be playing with this.
