So, recently, I was asked to fix up an original design. Not really of an existing character, but within a general category. It'll be shared later. However, I was completely stumped on it. I really had no idea where to even begin. Which is interesting since when I first started customizing, all I did were original designs and then I used to write a lot too, which of course also led to original designs. But, I've been so engrossed into a specific formula with customs the past few years, sticking to themes and commissions, that I lost my creativity. So, with the request leaving me baffled, I opted to kickstart my brain again. I just put pieces together, gave them names, and set them aside. Started thinking of story plots, characters, and eventually I started getting somewhere. And among those random creations was this. I've always liked the idea of a lionman, or leonin as Magic the Gathering refers to them. Found the head on AngelForge, and in the end basically made a simple version of Leomon from Digimon. He does look a little similar. Added sculpt to fill out the bracers, add some fur to his feet, add a belt, and then give him the pants look with the bottom portion a little torn. Full repaint, topped off with a hammer from HunterArtworks, and done! A simple enough design, and a great start. I ended up knocking out two others right after this. Unfortunately, the rest of my schedule is full up until the end of the year, but I do have plans for a full fantasy style run after that.
