Hello Everyone!!! For my second submisson of the day, I present you with THE UNKNOWN HINSON - LIFE SIZED - WALL HANGING BUST!!!!!

This piece is based on the real Life Musician and star of Adult Swim's 'Squidbillies', Unknown Hinson. This project was an enormous challenge. It was sculpted using Aves Apoxy Sculpt. I then made a mold and replicated it in Plastic, so the wieght wouldn't be too much to hang on a wall. It was designed to be able to hang on a wall using Keyhole picture hangers that are attached to the Bust on the rear.
This project was an intimidating blend of artistic and engineering challenges.

In hindsight, I would never sculpt a piece this size using this material again. Don't get me wrong, I Love Aves Apoxy Sculpt, but in hindsight other materials would have been much easier and more cost effective to use. The upside of using this - once it was cured and completed it's almost as indestructible as granite. The down side - Also that once it was cured and completed it's almost as indestructible as granite. It required occassionally going back and chisseling completely hardened parts off using old World sculpting methods and a lot of elbow grease. When you have to make revissions or are unsatisfied with how a portion of the piece is looking, you are faced with the grueling task of removing that piece and resculpting it. It also leaves a lot of room for injury, and my fellow customizers, you all know how often these projects draw blood, or even lead you to needing a stitch or two if there's a slip up.
Nonetheless, this was a very rewarding project. Of course as always there's room for improvement, but I liked the end result, the Customer was very pleased and Unknown Hinson Himself got a real kick out of seeing it in person when the Customer brought it to him.
