Stryfe (Marvel Select) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:76371
Name:Stryfe
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Marvel Select
Creator:Toycooker
Date Added:September 8, 2015
Base Figure:Marvel Select Colossus
Height:8.00 inches
I got the idea to make this Stryfe when I saw his helmet just sitting there on Marvel Select Cable's Base. I figured, how cool would it be for the new Marvel Select Cable to have his evil twin in the same Scale as him(or the scale he should have been in).

Anyway, Stryfe here was made from Marvel Select Colossus completely resculpted, added spikes and details with styrene pieces, hair combs, etc. The helmet was from the base with Marvel Legends Stryfe back of helmet plus sculpt. Inserted MS Cables face/jaw in to the helmet. The cape is from a Spawn figure. Dremeled holes and attached the cape to the back of the figure with screws and hot glue.

I finished him off with Chrome airbrush paint, buffed and readded probably 10 layers on here before I got it the way I wanted it. Highlighted with blue/silver metallic in areas like the Bowen statue.

It's really hard to capture the Chrome in the pictures, but this guy is very very shiny, and is all kinds of reflective.

Updated with a little better pictures in my opinion

Thank you for looking as always!!

Thanks so much everyone!! I used Spaz Styx, the trick is applying the ultimate gloss black backer, buffing that, then applying the ultimate chrome in thin layers and buffing each layer. Too many layers or too thick and it fogs up and you have to revert back to the black backer again to get the shine back. Wish I could take better photos of this guy, he has a lot more luster and reflection in person. I am a toy artist though, not a photographer

awesome finish, and he looks really menacing. Love the fact that you used cable´s face. I tried chrome paint (spaz styx) on a project yesterday and was dissapointed. It´s just a nice shiny silver. . May I ask which brand did you use?

Thank you! Hey man, what I read on any chrome paint is it looks best on a rounded smooth surface, so on this particular custom his chest piece, leg area, and wrist gauntlets were all that and the most reflective areas. I also noticed that if I got too many layers of the chrome over the ultimate black backer it would start looking more like silver, even while buffing. So I just added another layer of the black and a couple lighter layers of the chrome and I got the reflective properties back. It's a great paint, but it's tricky application, and if you buff it too hard it will indeed rub off, so soft light buffing is the trick. Also, seal with a light layer of Pledge Floor Care Multi Surface Floor Care through your airbrush, and not the Spaz Styx bran clear sealer, it'll fog it up to look silver. Hope this helps, love your work bud, keep it up!
