Got totally interested in werewolves again after watching episodes of Penny Dreadful. Sorted thru a few base figs for this project, like the Sota Dog Soldier and almost went with the Dr. Who Werewolf, but decided to start from scratch and kit-bash this one. Fewture Amon for the base - remodified the arms/legs shorter, Riddick hound for the head, added sculpt for the fur around the neck. Fodder for the tubes and belt, used shredded balloon for the torn sleeves/pants. J.Jonah was put together using a partial Patrick Bateman upper torso, wrestlers legs resculpted pants/shoes and DC Sinestro head resculpt. Thank you for your time, come again soon. ![]() |

The attention to every little body part here is breathtaking. The ears, facial features and hair patterns throughout the figure are all tiny masterpieces. This artist KNOWS werewolves through and through. The upper body torso has human muscles and rib cage that are stretched/bent and hunched over to fit the wolfen transformation. The moon stone is dangling from his neck by a cord. The mouth actually opens (like the unforgivably AWFUL Marvel Legends version of the character). The face looks good no matter how much the mouth is opened. The head and neck have been built up to give a PERFECTLY vicious werewolf look like he is about to leap and strike unrelentlessly. The fur cascading away from the arm and leg muscles is brilliantly rendered to reveal rippling veined twisted muscles beneath. The hands and feet are also tiny masterpieces in themselves. These are probably the best built and most highly detailed hands and feet I have EVER seen on any custom figure. Use of the shredded balloons for his uniform was genius. It really works to great effect.
Another thing I must comment on is how much I feel this artist is aware of his subject (as I have noticed in the past). Not only is the figure outrageously gorgeous, statuesque and very lifelike. But he has included a mauled figure of J.Jonah Jameson along with the main figure. He knew that that was in fact, part of who this character IS. Much like Mr. Hyde in that classic story, the monster comes out as a Freudian Super ID and expresses the monsterous side each of ourselves,.. in unrestrained brutality, rage and desire. But moreso in the werewolf story, the super ID comes out as a killer of those he loves specifically. In the classic werewolf story, the monster attacks the ones he loves and can only be killed by a loved one in turn. There is direct relationship causality, as opposed to random mayhem. This is the tragic Shakespearean bent on the story (which is there in most classic monster stories). There are the love/death/birth/murder/sex/violence themes. By including the mauled figure of not only a loved one, but the character's father at that, he has added that classical tragic pathos to his custom figure in an oedipal range of almost biblical proportions. The added figure of his mauled father shows that this artist not only knows the basic werewolf story, but knows the most tragic sense that story would play out in this specific character. He has gone beyond the surface and into the psychic essence of who the character is.
He has added "tragic pathos" to a custom action figure.
And that is a very rare and specific achievement.
Custom figure fans and aficionados everywhere should recognize and be singing his praises on this one.
I applaud your efforts on this one and unique appreciate the achievement you have made.
