"In the wastelands of the post-apocalyptic world, the vehicle jokingly nicknamed 'H.O.M.E.' (Hospitable Operational Mobile Environment) is a remnant of a world gone to hell. Once a versatile, multi-environment treaded troop carrier, it has been converted into a mobile command post/living quarters. It's modern fire-arms replaced with more conventional weapons, adorned with bones of various wasteland mutants and equipped with crude add-ons to further amplify its usefulness, H.O.M.E.'s natural heavy armor and durable treads make it the closest thing to a castle on wheels. Fitted for 9, the vehicle also features a scout dirt bike which can be mounted on the back and chained down to stop it from coming loose in the wastelands." I've had this G.I. Joe vehicle for a while now and wanted to do something with it. It's weird, almost boat-like design made it a little harder to work with, but I finally came up with an idea. The basis here was kind of a cross between a Mad Max vehicle, a troop transport and the Jawa Sandcrawlers from Star Wars. I wanted to make a vehicle that not only towed troops and served as a heavily armored weapons, but also as a kind of home. This baby is a moving home-it functions as that cautious assault vehicle but also as an armored fortress. Basic G.I. Joe vehicle, quite a few add-ons put on (the firing bow, fuel canister, etc), then numerous paint apps. Lots of drybrushing, washes and spray paint to get that 'dirty wasteland' look. Dirt bike was an extra piece, hit with washes and drybrushes, also sealed. The chain and attachments where Lego pieces. Finally, she was hit with a TON of sealer on everything, bike and all. ![]() |
