Judge Fear was the third of the Dark Judges that I finished. I wanted to stay as faithful as I could to Brian Bolland's artwork in the "Death Lives" story. I used a LCBH Judge Death, and added the hands from a NECA Berserker Predator. Brian Bolland drew Judge Fear with slightly smaller, more humanlike hands than Judge Death and Judge Mortis. I used a Hasbro Loki cape and added the bear trap shoulder pauldrons. I took the helmet from the LCBH Wrarrl figure, added wings and the dragon's head, and sculpted the faceplate. After adding the heads and beartrap to his belt, I realized how cluttered he looked with the chains hanging down from his shoulder armor and his badge and belt. Realizing this, I made his badge removable, just in case I didn't like the way it looked. He is often drawn with his armor or cape covering his badge anyway. Finally, I painted everything and sealed it. I decided to make his uniform a dark purple, just for a little visual variety. This guy was definitely the most difficult of the Dark Judges to finish, but I'm happy with his final look, and I'm really glad I didn't cut any corners.
Gaze into the face of FEAR!!

Beautiful work on Judge Fear! The only thing that would make this figure better is if his face plate could actually split in two and open up to reveal his terrifying real visage.

I originally planned on making his helmet open, but ultimately I decided that sculpting the faceplate on its own was challenging enough! It might be worth a try if I could get my hands on a second Wrarrl helmet though...

I may get around to doing a Mean Machine some time in the future. I've got a Dredd to post tomorrow, and I'm working on Anderson right now. After I finish her I really want to do an Omega Red custom though.
