Bebop & Rocksteady! The original mutant punk bad guys! Terrorizing turtles since back in the '80s! Now they're ready for some Nickelodeon glory. Only this time done right!!! Back Story: In Turtles Forever, we were introduced to the Turtle Multiverse. Shredder and the Turtles were able to travel to different dimensions where alternate versions of the Turtles exist. Using this knowledge, Krang and Shredder targeted the original turtles or "Turtles Prime"in effort to destroy the TMNT once and for all. They failed. Now, Bebop and Rocksteady are outfitted with new Krang-Tech Gauntlets that allow them to jump between dimensions of the Turtle Multiverse. These gauntlets adapt the wearer to the dimension they're on, changing their form and physical attributes to match the environment. The proposed plan was to use this technology to aid Bebop and Rocksteady in defeating the Turtles Prime, but both Krang and Shredder knew the thugs would ultimately fail. The real plan was to detonate the the hyper-destructive bombs implanted into the transporter gauntlets once the lackeys engaged the Turtles. But, as usual, things didn't go as planned... Bebop and Rocksteady were just about to transport to Turtles Prime when Bebop tripped on his shoelace, crashed into Rocksteady, and banged the gauntlets on the ground -- changing their dimensional destination and zapping the dim-witted duo to the Nickelodeon TMNT 'verse. As they fell from the portal, the gauntlets changed their form to fit the new dimension only moments before frying, shooting Sparks and smoke, and cutting off their communication with Krang and Shredder at home. Bebop looked over at Rocksteady and, with his shoulders shrugged, uttered: "Oops?" Recipe: These guys were made from Rescue heroes. One military guy and some other guy. The base for bebop had his arms replaced with ones from another military hero to match Rocksteady and to get rid of the weird looking elbow joints. Vintage 80s heads were used, each modified to exaggerate their features. Rocksteady got a riveted metal horn cap and bebop got new, longer tusks. Bebop's shoulder shells are from kid robot TMNT, Rocksteady's leg shells are from Lego TMNT. I liked that they were from actual TMNT figures, lending some authenticity. The back of Rocksteady's neck was from fodder. The knife, drill gun, and machine gun were all fodder too. Real chain for Bebop. The machine gun was from vintage general Trag, I believe. Primed in duplicolor vinyl paint and top coated in Vallejo. Painted top to bottom with my own personal interpretation/fusion of their outfits and dynamically based for display. These guys came out nice and look even better in person. Im really glad I was able to make the contest, and i lost a bit of sleep trying to finish on time. But it was worth it! I really like the proportions of the base figures and think they look right at home with the Nickelodeon Turtles' anime-style big feet and forearms look. This is probably my favorite piece I've ever done! Thanks for taking the time to check out my work, read the lengthy description, leave comments, and vote! I hope you guys like this duo as much as I do. Many thanks! ![]() |
