The second to last of my armored Power Rangers Series, I give you Billy, the Blue Triceratops Ranger!

The challenge for each of these figures is to make their uniforms similar, yet individualize them enough to make each member stand out, and with Billy, I had the unique problem of two opposing themes. On the one hand, Billy is known for his brains, yet I consider the Triceratops a tough, armored dinosaur that can be the muscle in any situation. Rather than focus on one theme for Billy, I drew inspiration from TRON to implement both themes in the design. Billy sports the diamond theme common to the Rangers, yet a closer look at the armor shows they have more of a mechanical/ tech look to them. Each piece looks as if it fits together, almost like different conduits that power the suit. This shows of the technological/mechanical aspect of Billy, while reinforcing the brute force his animal gives him in battle.

The Power Lance was more difficult to make than anticipated, because whatever plastic it is made of, it hates paint. I mean REEAALLy hates paint. The first test coats I did easily rubbed off without any real effort. I solved the problem by going over the entire piece with fine grit sandpaper to roughen up the plastic, and applied many base coats of gunmetal grey to help resist paint rub, and then painted over with clear blue, and finishing it up with a sealing coat of super glue. The Lance has been modified to be able to separate into two staves, and is able to reconnect thanks to the plug drilled into one end.
