So, seeing how DC never did a story back in the Silver Age featuring an evil Crime Syndicate type team who were counterparts to the JSA, I decided to continue that with a Golden Age Flash equivalent of Johnny Quick. I have theorized that his secret identity is Jacob (Jake) Garrick, pharmaceutical chemist and criminal research scientist, and he is a member of a team called the Crime Assembly of America.

The figure was a moderately difficult piece to do. I took a DC Universe Classics/Signature Jay Garrick Flash and used the boil and pop method to remove the head, arms, and ankles. Next, I used the boil and pop method to disassemble the lower legs of a DC Universe Classics Crime Syndicate 5 pack boxset Johnny Quick (I used Johnny Quick's because the boot tops needed to be more streamlined like the Johnny Quick). With the Johnny Quick legs fully disassembled, I used a little brush and roller cleaner to strip all of the paint from it. Next, I reassembled the lower legs, and then reattached them to the Flash body. With the lower legs now reassembled, I gave them a base coat of light gray as a primer to cover up the yellow, and once the gray paint dried, I gave the legs two healthy coats of Testors Model Masters Guards Red for the boots and Testors Acryl Bright Blue for the leggings around the knees. Once the Guards Red and Bright Blue had dried, I gave it two generous coats of Flat Clear. With the legs now fully assembled, I set the figure aside and started working on the arms.

Next, I attached the arms from a DC Universe Classics Flash that had the lightning stripes removed. With the new arms attached, I commenced a full repaint of the chest with Testors Model Masters Guards Red to cover up the giant Jay Garrick Flash lightning bolt and the skin of his neck. Once the Guards Red dried, I gave the chest two generous coats of Flat Clear.

With the body now fully painted, I started work on the head. For this Golden Age equivalent of Johnny Quick, I wanted him to look SIMILAR to Jay Garrick, but not exactly the same. So, after trying to find a decent head that would accomplish this, I settled on the DC Direct Elseworlds JSA: The Liberty File Flash. This head had everything that I needed to be similar to Jay Garrick, and yet still evoke a sense of similarity with the classic Crime Syndicate Johnny Quick. The first step to using this head was

I used my Dremel to sand down the ball joint attached to the Jay Garrick Flash figure's neck into a cylindrical post. Once the cylindrical post was formed, I next used my Dremel to hollow out the Elseworlds Flash head. With the head now excavated, I inserted a small batch of Milliput into the hole and then pressed it down onto the the cylindrical post to create a hole for it to sit on the neck properly. Once the Milliput had dried, I removed the wings and the behind the head strap from the helmet, and glued the lightning wings from a DC Universe Classics Crime Syndicate 5 pack boxset Johnny Quick in place atop the helmet. Once the glue had dried, I set about repainting the hood with Testors Model Masters Guards Red, helmet with Testors Model Masters Argent Silver, and the lightning wings with Testors Model Masters Shiny Gold. Once the paint on the head and helmet had dried, I gave the head two generous coats of Flat Clear, and then glued the head in place atop the neck.

With the body now fully assembled and painted I started work on the symbol. To do the symbol, I drew by hand four lightning bolts which I colored yellow, and then glued in place on the figure's chest and back (the lightning bolts were made by hand at a larger size, and then photocopied and shrunk to proper size...however, unlike previous hand drawn symbols I had done before, this made to partially resemble the lightning bolt symbol worn by the Silver Age Johnny Quick), and TA-DA...Johnny Quick, evil parallel universe version of the Earth-2 Flash and member of the Crime Assembly of America!!!

Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.

Excellent! , love it when people take a cool concept and let their imagination and skills run wild with it making it even better , and you my friend did just that wonderfully in both cases (the photos are a bit blurry , but looks cool nevertheless if one considers he's a speedster , so taking a clear snapshot of him is near impossible!) , joke aside , I really hope to see more awesome and imaginative concepts like this soon , Great job my friend!!!

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement En-Ryu-Oh!2061. The fact that you, one of the big guns of the Realm, has shown an interest in my work, both honors and humbles me. I am glad that you really liked him. A site like this is a place wherein creators can really let their imaginations run wild and come up with something weird, wild, wonderful, and unique. Seeing everyone else out there on the Realm doing things that never were character wise but should have been really encouraged me to do the four I have done so far. I have to say, that that the hardest part of this figure was deciding on the proper head...originally, I was going to use the DC Collectibles Earth 2 Flash, but that, as it turns out, was way too small for the DC Universe Classics buck. This head ended up being perfect in both size and design, so all things considered, a pretty good piece of work. Up next in this concept, is probably going to be either a villainous version of the Spectre or the Golden Age Atom. The only limit here, is my imagination.
