Well, this was certainly a challenge! I saw that the Marvel Legends line didn't include a Yellow Jacket figure to go with the movie Ant-Man, so I figured, "Why not?" Good Lord did I underestimate how difficult this would be! Began with a Batman Infinity Nightwing figure (same as I used for my custom Ant-Man) and began all the sculptwork. Naturally, since I'm a details guy, I gathered a lot of reference pics and put in as much sculpt as I could. Then for the arms...

For the arms I used those from the LOTR Shelob figure because they're super-articulated. I built a housing unit (backpack) and attached straps from a MM Batman Begins Bruce Wayne in tech gear. The Shelob arms were apoxied into the housing of the backpack with several layers to ensure they wouldn't ease themselves out and then sculpted more tech onto the backpack itself. Finally, I sculpted the mechanical elements onto the segments of the legs, making sure to retain the legs' articulation. Even the shoulder spikes are articulated (and also came from the skinny Shelob segments). Once done, I wrapped it up with a paint job. For the gleaming yellows, I first painted those sections gold, then covered them with a clear yellow.

So that's about it. He was a crazy endeavor and, like every single custom I make that is not a commissioned piece, he is available on eBay. Thanks for looking!

Hey Matt, could you send me the reference pics you used? All I can find are grainy pics from cam bootlegs

Hey Doc - For this one I used a couple pics from the promo stuff. Just Googled, "Ant-Man Yellow Jacket movie" and went to the images section. I also went off of pics from the bobble heads and other toys that were released and those are easy to find too. It's nowhere near 100% film accurate but the general elements are there. The stingers/pincers are WAY off, but I was just using what I had. I'm actually making a second one of these for a client and this time, I'm using the Ant-man movie figure as the base, sculpting the recognizable elements. For the stingers/pincers, I'm using two Marvel Legends ToyBiz flight stands. Hope that helps. I really haven't saved any images or reference pics, but if you go by the ones I mentioned above, you'll have no problem.

Just found some images that will help you (and me) A lot. Will PM them to you now

Thanks for the images, these are a big help! I want to make a female version, like a concept movie Wasp I guess.

The arms on your custom look wicked cool, accurate or not they look great and fit the aesthetic.

This particular one already sold, but if you'd like to commission one, just send me a PM. I just got some very hi-def pics of the suit from all angles so anything I make from here on will be a VAST improvement over this one.

COOL! Never have understood how they pick and chose who they make? You're telling me that Hasbro couldn't find a way to fit in movie versions of YellowJacket, Falcon or Vision? Great Job on YJ though! Hope he makes a formidable villain in the movie!
