The 2009 6 inch Playmates Star Trek line looks great but the articulation is not so great. Lately I have been collecting 6 inch Star Wars black series very heavy and I figured out a way to make Star Trek figures more articulate pretty easily. The Playmates Trek figures snap apart at the chest as does the Black series Tie Pilot. The Tie Pilot lower section I used a dremel to smooth the belly and back sections then dremel the rib cage of the Trek figure. The Tie Pilot has a plug and ball socket at the waist I glued into the hole inside the Trek chest cavity and no waist articulation is lost, this also is all covered up by the rubbery Trek shirt. Now you have a Star Trek figure that looks great and has the superior articulation of a black series figure. The Kirk I used the Star Trek boots and the McCoy I just left the Tie Pilot boots, the boots looks very similar but the Tie boots are articulated and the Trek boots are not. I have a bunch of these Star Trek figures I made with different custom heads so I have to buy a Tie Pilot for each one of them. I'm thinking of using a Leia for Uhura I will post her when she is finished. Thanks
