The reason I don't delve into Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter too often is that I become rather particular about the designs. It's very rare that one ends up having a simple assembly. There's either a ton of parts, or a lot of detail work. And my pickiness on designs has really held me up on a few of the characters I've been wanting to make. Hopefully, I'll get some extra time in the next couple of months to really work with them. But, for now, it's time to finish off this week of Mortal Kombat characters. I'm only four of the five since the other was Quan Chi and I literally just remade the same design I've done twice before. But, I ended up deciding to complete the group with a female character. Considered Tanya, but I really don't care for her weapons of choice. Skarlet, but I knew I'd be too particular. And since seeing her cameo in MKX, I'm wanting to go back and try Sareena. I just really, really like red/black designs. But, the one design I saw that I really wanted to jump on was Purple Elektra, aka Li Mei. She leads a refugee group in MKX, but in Deadly Alliance she debuted as one of Shang Tsung's numerous slaves, promised freedom by Quan Chi if she won the tournament. And then there was this thing about being destined to be the wife of Onaga, and other weird stuff. I really couldn't get into her history at all. But, I've made a black Elekra, and a white Elektra, and I really wanted to make a purple one. So, I started with Aurora, and sculpted up armbands, knees, the belt, her shoulders, and those gems/skulls/whatever they are. The belt sash was from an Iron Fist head, the sword was Valkyrie, and the head itself was lightly modified from Elektra. The assembly was simple, but adding black and purple lines all over her was agonizingly tedious. I swear I spent six hours straight working on them yesterday. lol But, pretty happy with the final product.
