Scratch built customs of the original Dalek and the Golden Emperor from the 1960s 'The Daleks' comic strip from TV21. The Dalek is a completely scratch built figure and the 'Emporer' is a cutdown 'Character Options (CO)' commercially available Dalek with a washing ball that is used in a washing machine and painted bronze and gold with the seven 'ear lights' and an eye stalk from the CO Dalek.

The shape of the original adaptation of the Dalek differs from the TV version as artists took references from photographs and drawings supplied by the BBC at the time. Example; the 'speaker grill' behind the upper shoulder band was a 'sellotape' reel used to differentiate the Dalek props at rehearsals.

You will note that the 'Skinny' Dalek is based on the artist impression as shown in the inset example of the comic strip. The Tardis is made from card and based on the original prop used from the 'Hartnell' to 'Pertwee' era.
