Having reached yet another painting pinnacle, decided to really give the brushes a workout by trying a new technique on an old Custom Alien. It's basically applying color to one spot, then adding watery droplets overtop, and allowing gravity to move the paint over the surface of the figure. Brushes are used but not to brush, rather to steer the pools of paint racing downward and everywhere. Like every thing else, mastering it requires practise, but the fX creates colors to blend seamlessly from one shade to another. While the surface of the paints are still wet, dare to blend a gold metallic gloss overtop! The legs on this always seemed off so replaced them with toy dinosaur teeth instead, resculpted details for better balance and bigger talons. The wings are over the top fun, especially when it curls up into a ball and then unfurls for a bit of brimstone & fire for y'all. Inspired by Sphinxs & Chinese Dragons, this hybrid exists only in mythical lore. Head - Killer Crab Alien, additional sculpting for the tusks Base/Wings - MegaBloks Plasma Morph Dragon Arms - McF Alien Spawn Legs - toy dinosaur teeth, resculpt Thanks for checking this out! ![]() |
