I present my concept rendition of Puerto Rico's folkloric character, El Vejigante. During the Ponce Carnival festivals (held during the week before Ash Wednesday) and the Festival of Saint James (which takes place in Loiza during July), locals dress up like vejigantes and can be seen out in the streets and parades. The costumes and masks are amazing works-of-art. The vejigante masks are mainly made out of coconut or paper-mache.
This concept custom is a gift for my good pal, Paul. I gave him this beast yesterday and he loves it!

-Body: Mostly a WoW Rehgar Earthfury with a little bit of sculpt and modifications made.
-Mask: A helmet from a Spawn-The Black Knight figure. I adorned the helmet with fodder horns and pieces. Filled the inside of the helmet with Aves Apoxy so that it became solid and affixed it to the Rehgar body.
-Painted him up using acrylic paints and DecoColor paint markers (for the small dots on the mask).
-Body tattoo - I found an awesome Puerto Rican Sun tattoo online that I used as reference for my Vejigante's body tattoo. I wish I knew who the artist is so that i can give proper credit. I found the original tattoo in checkoutmyink(dot)com, uploaded by j0shpadilla. Props to j0shpadilla for posting this awesome tattoo.
