Ever since I saw the 'Smile Time' episode of Angel, in which the lead character (played by David Boreanaz) is magically turned into a Muppet-like puppet, I wanted a figure. Unfortunately the official Angel toys failed to deliver.

So after making a few Muppets over the past couple of years, I finally decided to make a 'Smile Time' Angel myself when I was able to find a cheap, somewhat damaged Muppet News Man. The damage was on the head and he had lost his glasses. So it was perfect fodder. Removed the head and sculpted a new head totally from scratch. That was kinda difficult, but after a few false starts eventually it turned out great (in my humble opinion).

I created the trench coat by merging the already existing jacket with some LOTR figure's cape. The shirt was made by using the back of the jacket and turning it to the front. Buttons are sculpted on, as well as the collar. After that I painted everything and now he's done. All articulation from the original figure is still intact. Sword is from my fodder box.
