Unlike the other wasteland vehicles, which serve both as transport and literal battering rams to smash into the enemy vehicles, the Spider serves a specific purpose: taking down human prey. It’s unknown whether the vehicle was created through sheer wasteland gang luck or if it was some sort of remnant from the old world that has happened to survive, but the Spider sports a hydraulic arm which, when released from its overhead lock, swings down in front of the car. While this doesn’t sound too useful, the arm is equipped with a fork containing numerous electrical cables, which allows the driver to drop the fork on human enemies, trapping them underneath and giving them a solid shock. Adjustment knobs allow the output to be adjusted from a light stun to lethal levels-effectively giving the Spider the specific purpose of capturing fleeing enemies to be used as slave labor or entertainment later. Observers have also witnessed drivers use it to take down the local wildlife, both for food and for entertainment.

I actually just came across this Jurassic Park 3 car last night in one of my spare bins. I got it a few years ago in some Flea Market lot-it was kind of a mess, missing a seat, its guns and original accessories. With that in mind, I decided to turn it into another 3.75 scale wasteland car!

Fairly simple with this one, I did a few mods to it. The easiest things were adding more ‘wasteland’ gear to it-the extra barrels on the side, gas tank, box, etc. Just the little things to make it look a little more nomadic. I also took the original attack arm fork and wrapped metal wiring around it to give it that 'electric' wire attack look.

The biggest change I did was adding the grate type door on the right side of the car. Like I mentioned, the car came missing that door. On the original figure, I think the seat was spring loaded so ‘dino-damage’ could make it tear away. With no seat, I just ripped that whole mechanism out. Next, I took the casing from an old speaker and cut it down to door size, stuck it in there, glued it down and repainted it. It’s not a huge change, but the eclectic look of mashing parts together looks pretty cool to me.

Finally, everything got repainted, touched up, and then hit with lots of dry brushes and washes as usual to make it look dirty.
