Continuing with the Rankin Bass HOBBIT figures is BARD of Laketown! Bard is made from a DCUC Samurai figure with sculpted face and hair, boots, boot ties, sandals. The feet came from a Silva UFC figure and were grafter into the toe area of the boots (which I removed). The tunic is made from two parts of a Buffy Lorne jacket and has a leather belt with sculpted buckle. the cloak is cloth and has a sculpted buckle. The right hand came from a Young Justice Arsenal figure so he can pull back the bow string. The quiver also came from that same Arsenal figure. The bow came from a LOTR figure. Still working out a black arrow for him. The cape comes from a MM Manof Steel figure (shortened). It was a much more difficult figure than I'd thought at the start but I'm really happy with how he turned out and I think he has that animated look and will fit in nicely with the Bilbo, Gandalf, and Thorin figures I made. Next up in this line will be the Goblin King! Thanks for looking! ![]() |

So far, I've made Bilbo, Gandalf, Thorin, and now Bard. I expect to start the Goblin King very soon and I'm sure my buyer will want Gollum as well. Beyond that I'm not sure. These are figures he's giving to his son who's a big Rankin Bass fan so there's a lot of cool father/son stuff going on there. He got to read from The Hobbit in his son's school class and it was then that he presented him with Bilbo and Gandalf. Really cool moment and he sent me a pic of it!
I tend to agree with you when you put it like that. On the flip side, I'll make whatever anyone commissions me to make. Had a guy last year talking to me about making characters from The Last Unicorn!
