Like everyone else I was a little disappointed in the end product of the HML3 Hydra Soldier, I prefer to call 'em Goons... or minions, and I saw some other customizers doing some very cool mods to them which prompted me to experiment. Recipe: Hydra Goon - Head, Torso, Waist, Gloves & Boots SMO Doc Ock - Shoulder Balls, Legs ML Iron Fist - Arms He was labor intensive but worth the effort to give him better arms and legs. I opened up his torso, removed the original arms and replaced the shoulder swivels with the shoulder balls from an SMO Doc Ock (had to modify the peg a bit, see my WIP thread for info)and popped on the Iron Fist Arms. I cut and attached the HG's gloves to the IF's arms and then used Fixit to sculpt the billowy sleeves. The DO's legs popped on to the HG's hip balls with no mods and I cut and attached the HG's boots to the legs and used Fixit to sculpt the pant legs at the top of the boots. I painted him up to make him a little more like the Hydra Goons are depicted in the current Immortal Iron Fist storyline. I left his gloves the original color because swapping weapons is just going to rub the paint off but I might go back and make them match the boots. If you're wondering why I didn't use the SMO Doc Ock's arms it's because I tried an experiment with the original HG's shoulders and the DO's arms - tried to make an upper arm swivel. I failed and the DO's arms were a casualty. I'll probably do a few more of these and have a similiarly attired Hydra Goon Squad. Oh and this made him a little shorter - still huge compared to the rest of the ML line but fits right in with my DCUC figures. Lemme know what y'all think and thanx! ![]() |

He still dwarfs the MLs but fits in well with the DCUC Guys. Guess I'm gonna have to make some Marvels outta DCUC.
Yep >
Matt-Man > Mainly by going as slow as possible. I drilled a couple holes on the seams of his torso, stuck him in the freezer for a couple hours (tip from a Fwoosher - don't know how much it helped), said a prayer to the customizing Gods and then started prying with a small flat head screw driver. There was a little damage to his sides but I just sculpted over it with Fixit and made it look like folds in his shirt. If you have Fixit or Apoxie Sculpt you can fix any small damage.
