The inspiration:
The awesome Realm of the Underworld figures that Zoloworld is producing. I'm in love with this retro line and can't recommend them more highly if you are into 80s fantasy figures. Check them out at underworldfigures(dot)com. On with the show...

The Story:
Tales of the Acromancer’s evil and the heroic rebels who oppose him spread far and wide, eventually making it to the ear of a powerful Norse adventurer known as Bjorn. Already legendary in the northlands, Bjorn seeks even greater glory by joining Hercules in the struggle to beat back the forces of the Underworld. Whether the battle ends in victory or Valhalla is irrelevant to Bjorn. Either way, songs will be sung, reciting the time when “The Lion of Olympus” fought alongside “The Great Bear of the North”!

The Build:
Nothing fancy. But that is kind of the trick. To much and the figure slips away from the simplified 80s look that I'm trying to match. I used a Remco Hercules (not to confused with the infinitely more awesome Zoloworld Hercules) as the base, sculpting the hair, mustache and changing the ridge of his nose for that Dick Tracey/Minnesota Vikings logo look. The faux fur was cut with an x-acto (never use scissors on faux fur or the garment will never stop "shedding") - Remco introduced fur to their figures, making fur fair game. Helmet came from a TMNT Barbarian Raph and the hammer from a Supernaturals figure from the 80s.
