Get a mini tripod. Place camera on something roughly level with the figure - pile of books, other end of table - anything steady. Always use the self-portrait timer - press to focus, fully press to set the timer going, then let go and stand back. Cuts any wobble from your hand out.
is it ok if I retake the pictures and put them on the relm again?
Also see how Superman is super-clear in the second pic while bats and the background are blurry? That's a cool effect!
A few tricks I *have* learned that have helped me are:
Steady the camera on something. The back of a chair is a good place to start.
When taking pics, especially in low light, keeping the camera steady can be a challenge.
You need to define the light source. A lot of the guys that take wiz-bang pics use a "light box" or dedicated area with lights set up just right.
If you don't have the room or cash for that, you can still control the light you are using.
Find good overhead lighting, grab a couple lamps and try them in different places. Look online for tips on taking still life photography.
There is a LOT of info out there.
Take lots of pictures. Simple huh?
I generally take 20 pics or so to get the 4 I submit. Take multiple snaps of the same angle to make sure one of them looks good.
If one (or more) is blurry, you don't have to then go back, reset your area, take more pics and then upload them again. BLAH 8^P
I like to use background stuff and props for mine, so getting the fig to stand just right on a base of some sort can be a chore. I don't like resetting my "shoot" if I don't have to.
Also, if you take lots of pics you can mess with the settings between shots and see what works. If you don't know a lot about cameras (like I don't) write down what you did on the shots.
Once you get down a formula for what works for you and your camera you've got it made! And since there is no film to waste, you can take a bazillion practice pictures.
And last, if you have a friend who is into photography, ask for some help. Even if you are *sure* you don't know anyone that digs pictures, ask around, you probably have a friend, or a friend's family member or a friend-of-a-friend that *is* into photography.
If that doesn't pan out, you can always use the 'net. There really are tons of resources for pictures.
Good luck, and happy customizing!!!
is it my camera?
