Zangief isn't the brightest guy out there, but he is a master of the Russian grappling art of Sambo.

Ever since I saw the Box Set House of M Hulk I've wanted to make this figure because it reminded me so much of the in game look he had in (Super) Street Fighter 4.

Zangief's shoulders and boots are from a Marvel Legends Juggernaut with the boots being heavily resculpted down to the laces. The shins/calves were also lengthened and completely resculpted to create room for the leg hair (also sculpted). The belt and wrist bands are also entirely sculpted. This added height to the body and it also means he has wrists again (attaching the hands I chose to HOM Hulk looked anatomically incorrect, the only option was to add on to the forearm rather than just sculpt on top of it). Speaking of the hands, they come from Maestro Hulk and were sanded down to remove the warts and several wrinkles. I chose those hands since I was really impressed by how they can not only be opened to look like he's ready to grapple and perform throws, but also because they can make really good fists when they're closed (which rarely happens with opening/closing hands IMHO). The folds of cloth in the pants were dremeld off and smoothed with Aves Fixit Sculpt. The texture in the crotch was replicated as best as I could to create the speedo. His head was cast in resin from a silicone mold I made; afterwards I sculpted the beard, eyebrows and mohawk. Lastly, the scars, chest hair and nipples were also sculpted from Aves Fixit Sculpt. The scars and hair were fine, but I did feel awkard sculpting body hair and nipples. Then I started to wonder why House of M Hulk was born without nipples. I mean hair is one thing but come on, he was once human and humans are mammals!

Finally, the whole thing was painted and sealed. Glad I went with Juggernaut's shoulders, helped a LOT with paint rub.
