Continuing with my Disney figure series may I present Yensid the Sorcerer from Disney's Fantasia: The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
High in the Far Away Mountains in an ancient castle dwells the powerful Sorcerer Yensid, older than Fairy Tales and wiser than Fables, he sees all in his crystal ball. An eccentric by nature he keeps to himself, engrossed in ancient texts and tomes, tinkering with potions and overseeing the activities of the Dwarf Mines. Whilst casting his runes one evening they told him of an ancient powerful magic that was about to resurface. It was then that a party of Dwarves entered his chambers. They presented him with a large and perfectly formed sky blue diamond of great purity. Found deep within the mountains encased in star dust, it was The Blue Fairy Diamond of legend. Once thousands of years ago, or so the legend told, the Blue Fairy left the Earth to dwell among the stars so that her magic and light would shine for all to see, she became the Wishing Star. For many hundreds of years it hung in the sky until, as stars sometimes do, it fell from the skies in a trail of glittering light into depths of the Earth were overtime it became a diamond. Yensid knew that the magic it contained was extremely powerful, pure and easily corrupted and so he decided to consult his crystal ball. Gazing into its infinite depths, he saw something that worried him. Within the Haunted Forest, an impenetrable black void was spreading like an ink stain and obscuring his view. Straining hard to see further into orbs depths, the veil of blackness flickered for a moment and in it he saw someone long forgotten and presumed dead by almost all. She was much changed and twisted with time however he could still recognise his former Apprentice. Long ago she had succumbed, because of her own greed and vanity, to the temptations of the dark arts which had ultimately led to her downfall. Suddenly her gaze met his through the layers of mist, time and space inside the crystal ball, both were startled by this but then her greedy eyes fell upon the Blue Fairy Diamond. With a triumphant look, Yensid saw her laughing manically, before once again being obscured by blackness. It was then he decided that the Diamond wasn’t safe and must be locked away from those who would abuse its power. The Dwarves forged a chest of gold and iron to contain it inscribed with spells so that it could only be opened by the key containing the counter spell. A messenger owl was sent to the Queen of Arendell requesting use of her ice vaults and then Yensid began the days long trek down the mountains to the Kingdom of Maritime so as to entrust the chest and key to a Prince worthy of the task of transporting it to the far Northern Kingdom where the Queen would be waiting.
A simple Gandalf repaint, with belt accessories from a Jack Sparrow figure, glow in the dark stars added to hat, crystal ball is the lid from a room fragrance bottle set in an aquarium ornament. I hope you like and thanks for looking.
