A gunfighter, gambler, performer, and alleged prostitute, Kitty Leroy, born in 1850, was best known as one of the most proficient poker players in the Old West. Thought to have been from Michigan, she was performing as a dancer by the age of ten and as she got older, began to work in dancehalls and saloons, where she picked up a number of other skills, specifically proficiency with weapons and at games of chance. When she married her first husband, legend has it that he was the only man in town with the nerve to let her shoot apples off his head. But, Kitty was restless and wanting to take her "show” on the road, she headed to Texas, leaving her husband behind. By the age of 20, she was said to have been one of the most popular entertainers in Dallas, but soon gave up dancing to become a faro dealer and was noted for never going to the faro tables without several knives and revolvers. Her skills with weapons and gambling proficiency became legendary as well as her mode of dress which ranged from dressing like a man to extravagant gypsy-like attire. While in Texas, she acquired a second husband and the two soon headed to California. A third marriage apparently took place somewhere along the line, a man that she was said to have married as a result of a guilty conscience. In this incident, the story tells us that when the man became too ardent in his affections for her, she challenged him to a fight. When he refused to fight a woman, she donned men’s clothing and challenged him again. She then allegedly shot him and as he lay wounded, called for a preacher and married him before he died. When the Black Hills gold rush began in South Dakota, Kitty made her way to the thriving boomtown of Deadwood, arriving on the same wagon train that brought Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane to the camp in 1876. She soon opened the Mint Gambling Saloon, where she met her fourth husband, a German prospector who made a rich gold strike. However, when the German’s gold ran out, so did Kitty’s interest. She was then said to have hit him over the head with a bottle, before kicking him out of their home and her life. On June 11, 1877, Kitty married her fifth husband, a man named Samuel R. Curley in Deadwood. But, for Kitty, this would be a fatal mistake. Curley was a jealous man and after numerous arguments over alleged affairs with a former husband, and others such as Wild Bill Hickok and Sam Bass, he killed her on December 7, 1877 in the Lone Star Saloon before turning the gun on himself. The following day, the townspeople allegedly laid out the pair for viewing inside the saloon before they were buried together. A journalist would later say of the 28 year-old, that she "had five husbands, seven revolvers, a dozen Bowie knives, and [was] always went armed to the teeth." The Restless soul of a Restless woman , that's the very much powerful aura that Morgan Le Fay felt as she passed over the town od Deadwood , a kindred spirit , long has been that she could confined on another woman of equal desires and passion and so on a whim and by Arcane means , the Ancient sorceress conjures the lost soul to her side and proposes a deal to become her assistant and personal bodyguard (a job usually performed by her son Mordred , but now she needs him more in the battlefield , so the position is available , Kitty's spirit agrees rapidly at another chance to life , however there is a catch , she has nobody to return to and there are no people nearby to possess either , and then a sinister idea is form , "Thou shall be like the sands in the desert , where your corpse lie , thou shall be a GOLEM" , and forming a humanoid sand body around Kitty's remains , carves on it the ancient words and spells needed for the ceremony , slowly the sands move and begin to take shape until the image of a beautiful woman remains and awakens with a mischievous smile on her face and a pair of mystical guns on hand , dead or living , solid or incorporeal these weapons would pierce they're harts or banish them forever , adding her now immortal and indestructible body , with arcane power over the sands around and within her , she has become Morgan Le Fay's bodyguard and most loyal subordinate (she make sure it would be this way , while reviving her with an extra spellbound word , that can also , if pronounce only by her , can destroy Kitty , the now re-christened Tex Arcana!). How you like my twist on the traditional "Cowgirl" or in this case "Gunslinger" , I bet when you guys first saw her thought she was a hero , but no , she's what we called an anti-hero , as are most of the members of Dragon's Blood (except Mordred , that dude is pure evil!) , even Morgan Le Fay is not completely evil , just very ambitious on getting what she really wants , the complete and glorious return of the Age of Magic and the downfall of science and technology , that she hates so much. Recipe : as base body I used a DC Direct old Preacher series figure (Tulip) , cut off her legs and replace them with a pair of Star trek spacesuit legs I had in the fodder (now they look like cowboy chaps) , give her a poncho in multiple layers from a GL Guardian shirt and gauntlets from the same shirt as well , a random belt combined with a pair of holsters from a wild west Spawn figure and the finishing touch a white hat from a movie Lone Ranger figure (it's removable) and finished , like the whole color , so again NO paint , well hope you like this amusing kit-bash of parts and her very unusual both historical and (now thanks to me!) mystical backstory , later , Thanks!! ![]() |
