Thunderbolt from the Johnny West / Best of the West 1960s sets. Had to be careful with a model that's FIFTY YEARS OLD. His tail was broken off, seam split all around, so had nothing to lose. Cut his neck and reset the head at an angle so he looks alive and inquisitive, not straight-ahead dead and stuffed. Glued, braced the tail and filled with green stuff (note the base of the tail is too thick). He was covered in "dimples" from old vinyl tack sitting on hard plastic, which eats into the skin. Ground those out but he was too smooth, so I thatched him all over with Lexel (clear hard caulk from the hardware store) for a rough winter coat, which I then smoothed with sandpaper and painted in Palamino colors, which is more light-light brown than yellow. Even glued horsehairs from an old brush on as EYELASHES and a few odd wisps on his tail. Made horseshoes out of plastic and set those, painted them with Testor's Rubber and rimmed the edges with Testor's Aluminum so it shows "steel" where they hit the ground.
