Anyone who has been following me will probably know that Doctor Doom is my favourite character, and to be honest I've always baulked at the prospect of making a figure of him in his classic finery. How could I ever hope to do justice to the character that I love so much? Well, here goes nothing.

I chose Marvel Now! Captain America as a base figure as I felt he had the correct proportions for Doom: stocky and barrel chested. I swapped out the hands for Heroic Age Iron Man and got to sculpting and working with cloth. I drew on several sources for inspiration for Doom's outfit. I had originally wanted him to be a simple classic version, but the more I worked on him the more I wanted him to fit in with the Latveria diorama I was also making. I embellished his armour with some of the tentacle designs that I used for the diorama, hopefully tying it all together. Taking inspiration from Dragonball Z figures I created swappable folded arms for Doom.
