Hello all--been a New York Minute (right, OJJ?) since I posted something--been moving and working, and throwing down at Phoenix Comic Con--but I've stayed on here to see everyone's work and it's fantastic as always!! Today I bring you a simple Ben Affleck-style Batman. Not much to work with except that one released photo--so there's obvisouly guesswork on this guy. I chose the base because I wanted to sculpt on a base completely without making him too bulky, and the short ears on the head fits the Affleck release pic. First, I sculpted Ben's chin-the base figure's chin is a clean/strong jaw. Next--he's covered almost completely in a thin layer of sculpt, and all the suit's textures evident from the pic were put in with an x-acto. Did them in stages, so as not to get too zealous and smoosh one side while working the other, LOL. Sculpted the Bat-symbol, with it's texture/outline. For the gauntlets and boots, I took some liberties. You sort of see his gloves but not enough for my old eyes to tell if they're skin-tight (kinda looks that way) or a little bulkier. I went with bulkier, but not armor. More like a heavy padding. Same for the boots. Lastly--you KNOW I put a cloth, wired cape on this fool!! Batman's cape (or for me, a cape in general) is so important for the character-almost iconic on it's own, that it should be as poseable as the rest of the figure to capture those trademark stances. Thanks for looking and as always, critiques are welcome! -Fitz ![]() |
