DCUC Earth2 Robin (DC Universe) Custom Action Figure
Good afternoon, Realmers. Today's submission is my take on Earth 2 Robin. I love this costume and was pleased to see it used on the Batman Brave and the Bold series. While not very practical for an adult prowling the city at night, its a great design and progression from the original Robin suit.I've been waiting to complete this for a few months now, just needed the right parts to get him done. I used Ultraboy for the majority of the base. Again, I like to use parts that will help minimize paintrub whenever possible. I was originally going to use a Terry McGinnis head, but when I paid a little closer attention to UB, I thought his head would be a better fit for the adult Grayson. Sculpted the mask and gloves. Really not a big fan of sculpting, however, I got some green stuff and really like using it. It allowed me to create gloves that were spot on to the source material rather than having to use a pair from Dr. Midnight. The belt came from a trimmed up Longshot bandolier. I countersunk it into the hips so it would lay as flush to the body as possible avoiding having to paint it on, which I don't believe would have looked right, since it is after all, a belt. The cape and legs came from Hourman. Took a while but I was able to remove the deco from the cape. The lower legs came from Pharaoh. Removed the boot tops of course, and the shape of these boots was what was underneath. Perfect match to what I needed. Since this suit was designed by Neal Adams back in the day, I wanted to use a Robin emblem that also paid homage to his Tim Drake suit designs much later on in his career. Found myself a modern emblem that was just the right size and placed it on his chest to complete the build. Anyways, after a custom Lesternessman paint job, voila! Glad to see this guy on the shelf. Thanks for looking and see you next time. Please wait... |
