New and improved Frost Giant, enemy of Thor. The Walmart exclusive that came with Loki. See Before/After pics. The giant uses a lot of 12" Thor parts (torso, legs, arms), so needed scraping down. I posed him to stand leaning forward/down (looking DOWN at Thor), with his axe head touching the ground for balance. I peeled off the armor chestplate and fur cape, and scraped the inside for a tighter fit. With the legs spread, I cut slices in the fur loincloth to spread it apart, but it came up short, so I gave him a sealskin robe of black cloth daubed with gray. That also saved me from turning the chain mail into blue skin. Wrapped his leggings with masking tape to make them rougher, like wolf fur. I wanted him more "frosty", so drilled into his scalp and inserted florist wire, then glued on horsehair from an old shop brush, then whitewashed it. Celtic warriors used to lime-wash their hair before battle. Painted the cape to be polar bear fur. Ground off Thor's wrist gauntlets. Cut the head off the stone axe, affixed to a dowel, and piled on green putty to make it like a tree branch, then added a nail to the top. The dowel slides into his hand from the front, then the butt end (made from aquarium tubing) slips from the rear. Thus the axe position is adjustable. I also ground sharp grooves and edges into the axe head to make it more sinister, then flecked with Testor's aluminum paint. Trimmed the horns off the skull and added a hammer-shaped hole. The giant is admonishing Thor with a "Look what you did." Thor's answer is to wind up his hammer. There are two human-sized skulls from a Halloween hat hanging from his belt, not visible. Complete repaint except for eyes and teeth. Took forever but makes an imposing figure. Suppose I need another one (Frost GiantS travel in packs), but can probably mangle a GI Joe into #2.
