Godzilla, King of the Monsters!
Just saw the movie the other night; fun movie, I actually enjoyed it as a newer, reboot. I’ve always liked the concept of Godzilla and the whole giant monster genre. I’ve had this Godzilla figure for years and I thought it was time I used it up and turned it into something a bit better then it was.
The goal for this figure was to create kind of a middle ground between the classic Godzilla and the newer one. Basically what we ended up with was the classic Godzilla build and look but with the more modern Godzilla color scheme. For some reason every Godzilla figure seems to be that ridiculous green and I was glad to get away from that here.
Like I said, the original figure was an older Godzilla toy; he originally came with some crazy battle armor. Whole figure is just your basic repaint with sealant to protect the paint.
Figure features 4 points of movement: head, arms and tail. Unfortunately, I lost articulation for the legs in the WIP stage. Due to the figures age and build, one of the legs snapped during construction. Normally I would go in and fix this, but the figures overall body build and the legs joint were so tied together, that cracking the figure would have done more harm than good. So I just super glued them in both in their current position.

However, this wasn’t a total loss. In my opinion, the leg articulation was terrible. In any other position then he is in now, he looked stupid. Seriously, the articulation was atrocious and pointless because he wouldn’t be able to stand any other way. With that as the case, losing the articulation really didn’t bother me too much, especially since this was meant less as an ‘action’ figure and more as a display piece.

The final thing I did was the two accessories: vehicles to throw! Both are Z scale, a bus and a semi, and have been painted and sealed. As you can see, he can hold them pretty well-just a little something extra to throw in and add to the figure!
