Johnny Thunder & Thunderbolt were always absolute musts for me for DCUC. I thought maybe Mattel would make them one day, but I guess not. I've had this idea for attempting Thunderbolt for a longtime, but finally found the gumption to give him a try. Johnny is just a simple repeat of a DC Direct Silver Age Jimmy Olsen. Nothing really new or difficult there. Thunderbolt was created using a DCUC Mercury with the legs removed. The chin and nose were sanded down, and the thunderbolts on his head came from a Marvel Legends Storm base. The lower-half of Thunderbolt came from the water-spout aspect of the base of a six-inch Young Justice Aqualad. It's an idea I thought might work well, and I'm actually really happy with the results, especially considering he can still turn at the waist and the lower half is still bendable to create multiple angles of posing. Overall, not the most painting involved, but I'm really happy with how this duo, alongside the Jakeem Thunder I just completed, turned out. My JSA would never be complete without this trio, so now I'm three figures closer to completing the JSA. Thanks for looking! ![]() |
