Presenting Lucy Westenra from Bram Stoker's Dracula. After I made my Dracula figure I wanted to make my take on his beautiful victim, Lucy. In the novel she is a sweet and charming 19 year old, whose beauty and kindness win her 3 suitors and soon becomes engaged to Arthur Holmwood. She becomes ill with a severe case of anemia after being found sleep walking in Whitby Abbey and it is discovered that she has in fact fallen prey to Count Dracula and eventually becomes one of the undead herself and is later staked by her fiance. I wanted to pay a bit of an homage to Hammer horror movies with my Lucy figure and the beautifully sculpted Wanda figure had just the right level of sex appeal, whilst maintaining some innocence with the long white "wedding" gown (in my head Lucy goes sleep walking in the gown she is to be married in, plus the church window and candles that come with the figure make for a suitably creepy gothic horror scene for her to sleep walk in...WIN!) I used the head of a Jonah Hex Lilah figure as I loved the face sculpt and the hair. Initially I was going to make her a blonde but after painting the face I thought it looked a bit like Lucy as portrayed by Sadie Frost so decided to make her a dark red head as a bit of a nod to that. As the figure already has very limited pose-ability I also added and blended in part of the Lilah neck with the ball joint to offer more subtle changes in pose. I wanted her look as if she has just been caught mid sleep walk, wide eyed and trance like also she had to look ill, after all the Count has been draining her, so I painted her skin a pale lavender and then dry brushed a pale flesh tint over the top, and kept her eyes darker, I think this gives a suitably anemic look. Her bite marks I made when I was joining the neck with the point of a pin, I then used clear red mixed with brown ink for blood. I am really pleased with the end result, thanks for looking :) Please wait... |
