So, seeing how Mattel completely dropped the ball by cancelling the DC Universe Classics and DC Signature collections, and we didn't get all that many characters related to the Legion of Super-Heroes, specifically any villains other than Tyr and the Validus BAF, I decided I would make one of the more interesting looking Legion foes from the 1970's and 1980's, Molecular Master. Molecular Master was an android originally programmed by the Time Trapper to steal the Miracle Machine from the Legion of Super-Heroes.

The figure was a fairly simple and easy piece to do. I took a DC Signature Thom Kallor Star Boy/Starman and, using the boil and pop method, removed the head, arms, and hands. With the figure now disassembled, I used Milliput to create new boot tops and gloves. When the Milliput had set and hardened, I sanded it smooth so that it matched the boots and gloves worn by Molecular Master in his first appearance in Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #201. With the gloves and boots now prepped, I began a full repaint of the figure in flat black for the bodysuit and silver for the boots and gloves. With the body now drying, I started work on the head. The head was taken from a DC Universe Classics Golden Age Starman. To get the head to match that of Molecular Master, I started out by using my Dremel to sand off the earcaps and fin. Next, I used four tiny globs of Milliput to form the shape of the mask points. Once the Milliput dried, I sanded it smooth, and commenced a full repaint of the mask in flat black. Once the flat black had dried. I gave the entire head two coats of flat clear. Next, I gave the black bodysuit two coats of flat clear, and two coats of gloss clear to the gloves and boots. With all of the paint work now done, I reassembled the body. With the figure now fully reassembled, I glued the symbol onto the left breast (the symbol was made by hand at a larger size, and then photocopied and shrunk to proper size...however, unlike previous hand drawn symbols I had done before, this was covered with a piece of glossy magic tape to protect it somewhat). Lastly, with the symbol now glued in place, I gave the symbol two generous coats of flat clear, and TA-DA...Legion of Super-Heroes adversary Molecular Master!!!
