I started Krang after being both impressed and inspired by the previous ones I've seen on this site, most notably Scarecrow Studio's version. I wanted to do this on a budget of $15 though, so buying an Iron Monger figure, unfortunately was out of the question. Instead I found a discount rack Man of Steel robot (why would Super Man need a robot?) bought the basic 2012 Kraang figure and took an old Mega Man figure I had lying around from a discontinued (and not very good) line and went to work. The body inside and the tiny arms holding the guns are all Kraang. I painted them up a little, just so they'd fit with the rest of the figures in my collection. Next, I took the robot apart, hollowed out the Super Man symbol in the middle so you could see Krang's face, then cut the robot's head off so the Kraangbot's head could stick out and look around. I sanded and painted everything up using a color scheme similar to classic Krang, with inspiration again from Scarecrow studios' Krang. The arms and blasters are from Megaman. The whole thing is held together with super glue for the non-moving pieces, screws and nails for the moving parts. The giant arms can come off and be replaced with the aforementioned blasters from Megaman. The four arms can move around as can Krang's head. The legs unfortunately were never meant to move, so they have no articulation. After all was said and done, I reinserted the brains of the operation himself, and viola! Krang was done. While I believe I've done better paint jobs in the past, no custom I've ever worked on required this much thought or time so in the end I'm quite proud of it. I hope you enjoy looking at it, I know I will. ![]() |
