I have been wanting to do more customs using the glue gun for special or elemental effects for quite a while , I already done fire, lightning and next in the agenda was ice , and for that the most logical would be to do a Mr. Freeze (I know there're other possibilities , but for my style he's the best), or I thought , I search for base figures and the one that cough my eye was this Star Trek figure from the Enterprise series of Captain Archer (or was it Commander , can't remember , it was a loose piece)in a brown (copper?) space suit , so I started working on him , first it needed a big-ass gun or cannon witch I attached to him (glued) , then although he came already with a helmet I decided to changed for a blue transparent plastic dome , then proceeded to make ice parts for the suit with the glue gun , it was by then that 3 things happen that make me change my original concept a) I forgot the change the head and the dome was already glued into the figure , b) the suit's color was to dark to paint over in a lighter tone (wanted blue or white) it would require a base color to paint over and I'm nota fan of that much paintwork (also the level of detail of the original paint is really good and not that common a color) , c) I didn't had at the time a light blue marker for the ice parts , but the it hit me , ice and water have no color , the blue tone we think we see is actually an optical illusion by the light spectrum and the glue in it's original for really look like well ...ice! , so combining all those elements , I opted for "Trek" custom than a Mr. Freeze (some other time) , found an old Iron Man flying base to pose him and finished , I have to admit I really like how he turned out , it's a change from all the super-hero stuff one usually do and it doesn't hurt the fact that Enterprise happens to be my favorite Star Trek series (you know the whole spirit of exploration , finding and doing for the very first time places and races that are for granted in the other series and being the foundation for said generations , come on what not to like , plus it has one of the best openings of ANY series I have ever seen and a cool song to boost) , well here's hoping you like him , sorry about the long rant and Thanks.
