LARD is an acronym for Large Aggressive Round Diva. When Gertrude Crane's big sister Jenny was endowed with all the powers of an Asgardian goddess, she wanted in on the action as well. Although she is only 8 years old, her immense intelligence allowed her to utilize auto parts and grocery store cleaning chemicals to give herself super powers so she could tag along with her big sister. Her powers are a lot like those of Big Bertha, but she can fat-expand specific parts of her body and also make her fat into a super-hard armor. When in armor mode she can lift/press around 3000 pounds. Because of her extensive density control, she can also bounce like a rubber ball on her giant feet if she chooses, covering ground at up to 53 miles per hour once she gets going.

This is a one-off, sculpted from scratch action figure utilizing a very economical ball joint. The ball joints are simply round wooden beads slid onto paneling nails and glued with heat-proof glue (must resist Sculpey heat, around 250F). After each limb section is sculpted, a hole is drilled in the opposing piece and the join is made with super glue. This figure's articulation is a little looser than I like as my bead to nail glue did not resist the thermal pressure. I have since switched to Hammer-Head Omni Stick for attaching the beads to the paneling nails, allowing for a much much tighter joint. Many different joints can be sculpted onto a simple ball joint like this, then attached later. I am still learning the techniques to get the movement I want with better and better joint lap qualities, however the only limitation is my skills at sculpting and the patience to perfectly fit each joint.

Super Sculpey is critical to making high quality joints with this method, although with a suitable "resist" that stopped bonding to the bead Apoxie would also be excellent. If anyone is interested in these techniques to make arms, legs, or whole figures from scratch send me a message. I also build complex armatures for larger figures and modeling. Thanks for reading!
