Wong is the companion to Doctor Strange. Debuting with Doctor Strange in 1963, he is one of Marvel's oldest Silver Age characters. This was supposed to be a five second custom - a head swap putting a G.I Joe Hard Master (comic pack 2008) head onto a Secret Strike Loki body. But Loki's neck ended up being too thick and the head post too big, plus the skin tone did not match. I also did not like the gloved hands. So I ended up doing a little body work, some touch-up painting, adding a small gem for accent, and switching out some suitable hands. Secret Strike Loki is part compromise, part vision. Wong is depicted in comics several different ways, but is typically in traditional Chinese robes. However, those are hard to find at the 3.75" scale, particularly in green. Additionally I watch Marvel's animated "Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme" for the first time this week, and it featured more of a kick-ass Wong (and occasionally in the comics he is pretty kick-ass too). So I decided to go more of a warrior/magician route with him, but (hopefully) still capturing the essence of his character. ![]() |
