Hi everyone...I knew entering this mythic contest I was going to make a character of a game that probably a few know or even played. This custom is of a statue warrior awaken by a cherub angel that was sent down from the heavens by a higher God to slay mythical creatures that roam the lands. The whole purpose for this is to get rid of these creatures to created a civilization of human life & regain what was once lost from the evil Demon God Tanzra. This great game is called ActRaiser.
In late 1991 the SNES launched great titles like Castlevania 4, Super Mario World, F-zero, Pilotwings.
The game ActRaiser fell under the radar because of its Mythical religous tone. The gameplay is one part Castlevania all action in which you control the statue warrior, & one part Simcity which you control the Cherub angel to help build towns, homes and guide the population living there once the creatures are eliminated from the land. Some of the mythical bosses he battle are Centaur, Manticore, Minotaurus, Kali, Zeppelin Wolf & even a Arctic Wyvern. Yuzo Koshiro created a epic soundtrack that you swear Enix implanted a orchestra inside the game cartridge. From the opening title screen to the stages & bosses theme. The majestic soundtrack sets the atmosphere and mood thru out the game. In the last stage you must battle a gaunlet of stage bosses again consecutively to the theme "Powerful Ememies" which is my personal favorite.

Here what I did to put him together, since there isnt much artwork on him I had to use game sprites as reference . Torso is from ML Ironfist then put Lotr Legolas vinyl shirt over it. Arms are a combo of Ironfist shoulders,DC Aquaman biceps and forarms with ML Angel bird of prey gaunlets hands.I did this to lengthen the arms so he can hold his sword across his body and do overhead strike poses just like in the game. Then I sculpted armor on shoulders, triceps & gaunlets. Legs are from Mcfarlane Onimusha Oda Nobunaga with sculpted knee armor and Lotr Legolas feet. Vinyl hanging piece is from DC Raven. The Statue Warrior head is from ML walmart Thor, added Xmen classics Magneto helmet with sculpt work armor on sides. For accessories I gave him a modified ML Loki rune sword & made a cherub angel. Finally painted him up in different layers of blue shading, gold & a little silver & red and he was done.

This forgotten warrior came after Greek hero Rygar and before God of War Kratos. To the people who played this great game by Enix and remembered it, hope I was able to do justice in creating the statue Warrior from ActRaiser into figure form.
Am looking forward to seeing all the other mythical customs in this contest..

Hope you like
Thanks for watching

Actraiser isn't really a "game that probably a few know or even played", it's widely regarded as one of the SNES' better titles--it's certainly one of my favorites. Nor did it fall under the radar, indeed, it did well enough commercially to spawn a (inferior) sequel and it received, and still receives, numerous accolades from the gaming press.

The character you made isn't a nameless warrior either, but God Himself (renamed the "Master" in the English translation because Nintendo is deathly afraid of upsetting Christians, or, more accurately, endangering their profits margins with controversy). God is very hands-on in Actraiser and does nearly all the demon slaying Himself (the only exception being the simulation mode stages, where His Cherub assistant and human followers do the slaying of the monsters and sealing of their lairs). You may recall that God descends from His Sky Palace (in a cool spiralling Mode 7 effect) every time that you begin an action sequence, after which the screen cuts to a glowing light entering one of His statues scattered across the land, which then becomes flesh and blood (why the monsters didn't simply destroy or deface those relics is a mystery for the ages, perhaps they're too holy to touch). After you clear a level, by defeating the boss, the light leaves the statue, which returns to stone, and God, in the form of that light, ascends back up to the heavens. Likewise, the Cherub always speaks of the Master Himself going down to fight the forces of evil, not animating a nameless warrior.

As for the custom itself, it looks great. I appreciate the extra effort of including His Cherub buddy, and I also like that you depicted Him battling several monstrosities in your photo shoot. Speaking of said Cherub, while cool, yours is way too small; that winged dude is literally the size of a house--he's comparable in dimensions to the giant monsters in the simulation mode, which are large enough to grab and carry around several humans in their wicked talons. I'm not exaggerating when I say that, to be in scale, the Cherub would have to be the size of NECA's Balrog in comparison to your figure. If this was for an actual toy line, a stone repaint would be a fun chase variant.
