Hello, I am Spartacus. Today I bring you a custom of DBZ's Bardock. I always wanted a articulated Bardock figure, since the AB toys one just moves his waist, arms and head... The Irwin one was good, but it was a chaser and it's prices on Ebay are just as high as it's sellers. So I said, Since I like this whole Customizing thing an want to get better and better, I thought, why not make one? It was much easier said than done. I could not find an articulated figure in my vast collection that had the size and height I wanted for this project...then It hit me! I'll use ol' Webhead from Spider man 3! He was articulated decently enough(lower body wise) and was a pretty good size and height. I had no need of him any longer so I split him apart(his torso atleast), perfectly(to my surprise, because im horrible at breaking figures apart) anyhoo, Then I took a gamble to see if my "Giochi Preziosi" Gohan figure's arms would fit in Spidey's arm sockets since those arms were very articulated(swivel biceps, wrists, double jointed elbows and articulated hands/fingers). It fit PERFECTLY!! It was too good to be true! Then I had to add some apoxie to cover up the web designs on the costume and chainmail texture, In addition to making him alittle bulkier since that spidey figure is SKINNY! I added apoxie to the upper and lower legs, feet, and ALL of the upper torso. Then I had to let that dry so I could go back over it with some MORE apoxie to make the saiyan armor. I used the 'waist armor' from an old raditz figure I had for the waist armor. I guess that's what it's called? So far so good it seemed atleast for my novice skills... Then I needed a ball joint for one of the MANY goku heads I have. I used a fantastic four 2 movie 6in silver surfer I had lying around and took the ball joint in his neck and put it into bardocks/spidey's neck. I only hoped his head would be able to go on and still have some articulation to it. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE!! He can look up, down, and turn a full 360. Lastly I added his furry tail from those fuzzy sticks you get from the craft store, I cut cloth arm and Leg warmers and went over them in dark red paint because the red cloth was too bright for my taste. Painted him with flat and glossy blacks, whites for armor and hair, eye brows etc, Used navy blue for paints, 'shamrock green' paint for...the green parts. Tans for skin tone. I TRIED a black wash on the skin to make the definition on his arms and etc come out more...TRIED. Overall, I was satisfied with the Outcome. It looks really cool, to me atleast. I want to find a Super Saiyan head that would fit, because if any other Saiyan DESERVES to be a SSJ, it's Bardock. I'll easily say this is my best custom work so far... IMO. I wish I could show more then 3 pics but, oh well... In one pic, I did a size comparison to his son, Goku for height and stuff. Enjoy! ![]() |
