Angela joins the Marvel Universe Now in the Guardians of the Galaxy. Base figure was a ML Red She Hulk. Head is Blackest Night Mera. Lower legs are ML Gambit. Ribbons were made with wired gold ribbon with the pattern penned and painted on. Sword and scabbard are from a LOTR figure. Helmet, bra and cowlick were from the original Spawn Angela figure. Other details are sculpted and joint holes filled with milliput. I tried to balance the sculpt and the articulation as well as pay homage to the original figure by incorporating as many details as I could from that excellent figure.
Thanks soooooo much for the nice comments! I am humbled by the reaction of my fellow customizers. Regarding Angela's appearance in the MU, I was never a big Spawn fan, but I found myself drawn to the character and the circumstances that led her to Marvel. I may just have to seek out those old stories now! Relative to a McFarlane figure, I am really pleased with how much articulation I've been able to retain - the only point I had to sacrifice was the neck articulation mainly because of the hair. Ankle rockers, thigh swivels and upper torso swivel help maintain her posability.
It's just really bizarre to see something from the Spawn franchise becoming part of Marvel's universe. I don't think that I'll ever be "okay" with it, but it's better than the character languishing in limbo after all of McFarlane and Gaiman's legal battles.
Anyway, this is an outstanding Angela custom, certainly better than anything Todd ever gave us in the various Spawn lines. Great work!
