iro and his bro genbu were mutated by karai and dr chapel as part of her of forming an elite group for herself on one of her trips back to japan she kept the bros there for yrs .they became two of the most feared foot soldiers in japan. til they came to new york where they would meet the tmnt at 1st the tmnt tried to befriend them but the two were annoyed by the disrespect of there mistress karai both would later catch casey jones and leave him broken and scared which the tmnt would never forgive this would be the start a long rivalry
