Tasha was someone who was very special to me. As teenagers, we met when she was orphaned and homeless. I befriended her, mentored her, and helped her with everything I could to help her. Teasingly, she called me her dad, since I was the closest she had to one in years. She ended up getting a job for a tech company in Wisconsin in her early 20's and moved away. Then in 2008, she succumbed to lymphoma. I miss her like hell and despite the fact that I was the one that mentored her throughout her teenage and adult years, I felt that she, too helped build, mold, and shape a facet of who I am. For that I will always be grateful for her. I finally felt I had the means to honor her in plastic. When I first met her, her wardrobe was understandably limited. So, when I think of her, my mind usually pictures her as being in that dark blue longcoat, black t-shirt, blue slacks, and brown work boots. I never even gave a second thought to what her outfit in action figure form would be. She's made out of a Marvel Universe Jubilee, with an Invisible Woman head. Her arms are slightly resculpted to lengthen the sleeves, and the glasses are superglue and silver paint. If I ever have any of my figures "go Toy Story" on me, I hope it's this one. ![]() |
