The Warrior’s Way

The Director of this film, Sngmoo Lee, must have said “I’m going to create the most Bad-A$$ opening scene, ever.” And I think he got it. The first few minutes of the movie set the style and tone to an epically beautiful piece of cinematic work.

In those moments we see these guys leaping out of the water, ready to attack. Are you freaking kidding me!!!! It was sooo cool and I knew right away, I wanted to capture that.

Body: Wire Armature
L-Hand: Cast
Sculpt: Used a 50/50 mixture of Super Sculpey / Sculpey Firm and Aves Apoxie Sculpt

Constructed a wire armature and bent it into position. Began by laying up the anatomy and then worked the costume fabric wrinkles on the arms and legs with the polymer clay. I then switched to Aves for all of the detail-work. The right hand was sculpted right onto the sword and then attached at the wrist. Left hand was cast from a mold then attached. The hair dreads were sculpted from flexible sculpey and then attached. This guy comes with a wooden display stand (not pictured) and a brass rod to suspend him in the air.
