"I am vengeance, I am the night, I am BATMAN." From the start of customizing figures, I knew I had to make Batman. He is one of my favourite characters, and it always seemed that no single released figure ever got him "right". I wasn't sure how I wanted him to look, but little by little I set aside some pieces and started planning him out. I wanted to make my "ultimate" Batman figure. Upper torso - Young Justice Batman (I absolutely LOVE the armoured look of the chest.) Shoulders - Some random DCUC Batman, he kinda had the 70's look to him Arms - Marvel Legends Face Off Punisher (I really wanted him to have double jointed elbows and knees.) Gauntlets - Arkham City Batman Hands - Marvel Legends Ronin (I used hot glue to make the sockets in the gauntlets tighter for these hands.) Belt - Arkham City Batman Crotch and upper legs - Marvel Legends Drax Lower Legs - Marvel Legends Luke Cage Boots - Arkham City Batman (I drilled them out and created sockets with hot glue, it works really well and he has a calf-swivel) Cape - I made a wired cape for him, in the pictures the light looks like it goes through, but in person it's a completely solid black. Collar - An old DCSH Batman collar (I carved it out to fit over the neck and cape.) Head - DC Direct Batman (I was saving this head for a couple years for a custom Batman.) And, a couple of batarangs. I REALLY took my time with this figure, I didn't want it to suck. After cutting, drilling, and fitting the pieces together I gave everything a nice coat of black. Then, I gave the main body a couple of coats of dry brushed greys. Starting dark, and then a lighter coat over it all. I painted the belt gold. A lot of people like to go with a yellow belt, but I just love how the gold turned out. I gave the "armoured" parts of the gauntlets and boots a light dry brushing of silver, and I tried to highlight the edges in silver to give it the appearance of being worn. Like Batman has been kicking criminals' butts with this gear for a while. I chose to paint the straps on the gauntlets and boots brown. I started with a little heavier dry brushed coat of dark brown, and then lightened it slightly and did another coat. I just like how it looks. It helped show off details and gave the pieces more character. I gave one of the batarangs the same "worn" dry brushed silver paintjob. The cape took me 3 tries, but I like how it turned out. The wire is very thin, but strong. It can open up for gliding poses, and it hangs down very naturally for neutral poses. Although, my poses are kind of lame. I don't fancy myself a photographer. I just used some white tagboard for a background. I'm stuck with my cell phone for pictures...it kinda sucks. I'm still not completely happy with him, but V2 will have to wait for now. Thank you for looking, hope you enjoy him! God bless! :3 ![]() |
