Cable (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure
Let me start off by saying all the other Cables on the Realm were beautiful cont-cont-continuing sources of inspiration! I've been wanting to try my hand a a more appropriate version of Cable. By appropriate I mean...one that matches the rest of my X-men collection. My last Cable was more cartoony as I based him off the MVC2 verion. I hope you like it. Base body was from one of the original versions of ML Thor. Boots and two of the three holsters are from ML Bishop. Head is from ML Punisher. First, I sculpted some pecs and abs on this bad boy. Anyone familiar with this or might know underneath rubbery armor he's got a shirt which hides his muscles. As a result...my first task was clear if I wanted a bigger Cable. While working on body, I sculpted some bloused pant legs. Te Bishop boots fit fine however they left a bit of a gap between the boots and shins. Next, I sculpted an "X" belt buckle. The fun part which I had put off a bit was making the iconic over-sized shoulder pads. All made from apoxy scratch. Two separate pads both with ridges. Originally I was just gonna' glue them on, but I found it would restrict his arm movement far too much. So, I took a lunch break (chicken and broccoli) and found two large rubber bands on my broccoli stalks. VOILA! I glued the pads on to rubber bands and crossed them over the body. Now the pads would be adjustable. Lastly, I sculpted 203 grenades and stuck them into a vintage TMNT belt I attached to the left pad. I also sculpted the ammo belt on the right shoulder pad. Fodder belt pouches and leg strap. One gun from Bishop, one hand gun from a Spawn figure, and the other I made from a Punisher Saw machine gun and apoxy. The holster on the left leg is from XMC Cable. Also, sculpted left mechanical arm (not my best work on the arm mind you *shrugs*). Please wait... |
