Great Custom! Just love the look, in a way it reminds me of the old cartoon shows, I think its the "S" very old school, and I don't know what all the fuss is about, but this is a great figure!

This is a very well done custom. The sculpt and paintwork look great. I love the look and feel of the figure.

Although, this isn't really "steampunk". Steampunk is taking science fiction and modern concepts, and recreating them using the level of technology available/in use during the late 18-19 century. The time setting is important to a point, but it's the technology itself that actually makes it "Steampunk". There is no technology here.

This would be categorized more as a Victorian/Gas Light take on the character.

I think it fits in fine as a steampunk era figure. Superman on his own doesn't rely on much tech anyway. It's usually just him in his suit. In this case, the outfit fits into that timeframe pretty well. It's not the direction I'd go with a steampunk Supes but all in all it can fit. There are steampunk bands (Abney Park is a popular one) and they simply dress they part. I concede it's a pretty subjective term though. This concept is almost the same exact look that a customizer called SILLOF did and THAT figure was featured on some steampunk websites even though SILLOF termed it as Gaslight.

Indeed, it CAN fit into a Steampunk setting. But, so can ALL of the Victorian era world. Just being able to fit in isn't a very good qualifier. The main point of steampunk is the technology, not just the clothing and victorian look. It doesn't even have to be set in the Victorian era, I've read a number of things that take place in the "future" or modern times and are still steampunk.

Steampunk has reached the level of culture saturation, that a lot of people are just tacking the name on to fit in. There are bands out there that label themselves as "steampunk" and only throw on some vests and cravats. That's NOT steampunk, no matter how good they are. I have seen a number of these bands live. If we are going to go just by looks, Justin Beiber had a pretty impressive steampunk-styled music video with a lot of great costumes and props (most built by people I know). Would you say that Justin Beiber is now "steampunk"? I, myself, am friends and acquaintances with a number of people in the steampunk media world. From authors and clothing designers, to bands, and even the creator of the largest steampunk convention in the nation. The subject of "what is steampunk?" comes up a lot. From nearly every single person I have heard speak on it, the biggest agreement is that the single most important factor is the technology...straight from the people that built the genre.

I mean, technically, you and I could fit into a cyberpunk world...although, I would hardly classify myself as such.

The meaning of the steampunk concept is increasingly lost on me these days

Looks great! Were you inspired by the steampunk Superman that SILLOF did a few years back? Either way, this turned out pretty cool!
