Spidey Showdowns: Ultimate Rhino (Marvel) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:50558
Name:Spidey Showdowns: Ultimate Rhino
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Marvel
Creator:N TT
Date Added:June 9, 2013
Base Figure:Creech
Height:7.50 inches
Have seen a few Realmers put to good use those VW sized fists that Creech has, but what to do with the rest of 'em? Let's throw in front of the truck an Ultimate Rhino for starters.
Replaced the arms from a McFarlane Black Knight, got the head from a Toybiz Rhino, added spikes from Spawn, resculpted the horns.
Thanks for checking this out.

I own this figure. I have to say that some artists do customs to make money, some do them to make tributes to their favorite characters, some do them to produce a kind of moving sculpture,... and some do them for a kind of LOVE for the characters and the art of being creative with them.
I've got to think that this is a case of the latter.

I just got done praising a custom Orka I had made and this artists Tiger Shark, which is one of my favorite figures as well. So I thought that I should praise this one for it's artistry and imaginative reworking of the character.

This one is superb!! Outstanding!! OUTRAGEOUS!!! CREATIVELY SAVANT & FIENDISHLY INSPIRED EVEN!!! I have 6 different Rhino figures now. And each one is very creative and captures an essence of the character. This is not a complex character. He RAMS YOU WITH HIS HEAD!!! What other character says I'm gonna beat you with my HEAD!!?? Hammerhead? Diamondhead? Brute maybe. So they have given him new costumes. They have given him armor plating and spikes. You couldn't give him any advanced weaponry, lasers or cannons, like War Machine,... unless you had a cone of obedience around his neck. Cause he would probably chew them off!! He's a Thug!! A Brawler!! You can send him to fight the Thing or the Hulk,.. and he's run off to go do it!! Don't know what he is doing in a Spider-man comic.

I just couldn't resist this version! This artist has a knack for adding cartoon like proportions to figures that you just DO NOT see anyone else doing. You usually get a base figure with custom alterations added to it. Rarely do you get different base figures with different parts cut together,... and EVEN more rarely do you see a completely altered reworked shape to the entire base figure. This artist is not afraid to have muscles bigger than the head is, tiny little waists, short legs and long arms or details that are completely invented just for the art piece. If I could afford it more, I would LOVE to throw this artist a couple of really obscure characters JUST to see how abstract he could get with them.
His figures are pure artwork!! They look like re-imagnined Modern art sculputures of comic figures. They have an internal life-like intensity that you rarely find in action figures.

This "Ultimate" Rhino figure really IS an ultimate statement! Not only is his head tiny and screaming! LOVE the facial expression!! And the front horn is easily as long as the head and neck put together. Outstanding!! And again, one hand is balled into a fist,.. cocked like it is about to punch something (ANYTHING!!!). And the other hand is reaching out (with an arm that is way too long for the rest of the body and a tiny hand on the end that doesn't fit proportionally with the rest of the figure, but has the same mechanics on it. And as a whole it suggests some kind of story where evil alterations have been performed). The spiked wrist pieces are different on each arm (each side highly detailed), again suggesting a story of alterations. And the neck and short legs are all mechanically enhanced for action. The comic artist it mostly reminds me of is Sam Keith. With his characters with little heads, short feet and huge, hulking shoulders and arms with dangerously overbearing rippling muscles. Or Don Simpson's Megaton Man.
It's really a brilliantly done, finely detailed work of art!!
The little mechanical details throughout the entire figure are awesome!! How much time and care he must have taken doing all of this detailing?? Even the heels of the feet have little exhaust rockets on them.
The pose and face tell you that he is ready for a major fight right here!

This is one of, if not THE most talented custom figure artists working today.

Can't wait to see what he is going to do next!!

wow! very cool. Way to make good use of the body! I think the body could use a darker coat of grey paint, but that is just my opinion. Great Job!!
