Okay, here comes the third figure in my series of conjectural characters based upon the premise that what if another Golden Age hero other than Superman was given a teenage superhero career? So, using that idea as my basis, I came up with Kid Fate.
To do this figure, I first took a Silver Age Superboy/Supergirl Boxset Superboy figure and, using the boil and pop method, completely disassembled the figure. Next, I used my Dremel to remove the figure’s cape and belt. Next, while the figure was disassembled, I mixed up a small batch of Milliput and formed the new boot tops and covered over the top of the trunks. When the Milliput had dried, I sanded the new trunk and boot tops smooth. Next I used a small amount of Tamiya Putty White to fill in the grooves of the Superboy chest symbol. When the putty had dried, I sanded the chest smooth. Next, I took each of the forearms and sanded them back to fit the gloves of a DC Direct Teen Titans Series 2 Robin. When the forearms were trimmed back to fit the gloves, I mixed up a small batch of Milliput to turn the newly created posts into cones that would fit the gloves snugly the way that the original Robin forearms did. Next, I used my Dremel to create holes in the chest, back, and around the neck to accommodate the Amulet of Anubis from a DC Direct Doctor Fate and the cape from the aforementioned Robin figure (I used the Robin cape because it has a similar design as the one worn by Doctor Fate, at a smaller size, which is perfect for a teenager). With all the sanding and Milliput work now complete, I began a full repaint of the body, gloves, and cape with Testors Model Masters French Blue and Insignia Yellow, and then a coating in flat clear. With all paint work now finished, I commenced the reassembly process, putting the figure back together minus the head (this was done so that the cape could be glued on before attaching the head, plus I did not want to use the Silver Age Superboy head, mostly because it looked ridiculous with that stupid grin). When the glue for the cape had dried, I took the head from an extra Crisis on Infinite Earths Series 3 Earth-Prime Superboy figure and used my Dremel to sand back the hair so that the head could fit both of the helmets of the DC Direct Doctor Fate snugly. Lastly, I attached the newly sanded head to the body, put the helmet(s) on him, and TA-DA...Kid Fate!!!!
Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.
